Liffeybank traveled the short distance to Ashtown to play local side Frankfort in their second League Cup fixtures. The "Town" Women needed a victory to keep their hopes of a quarter final place alive and they didn't disappoint with a good two nil win against a talented and fiery foe.

The home side played with the elements in the first half and created the better chances, Liffeybank had their keeper Orla Councel to thank for keeping them in the tie with a string of fine saves. Emma Ashe and Sarah Foy were also outstanding in the centre half positions and made some timely interventions with full backs Alex Cleary and Mollie Sykes playing their parts and also pushing forward when they got the chance. Liffeybank created a few chances of their own and went close through Amy Tully and Kirsten Hart before the break.

The second half saw the visitors take the game to Frankfort, Cleary had a free kick just over the bar while Maire O'Neill shot just wide. Liffeybank broke the deadlock on 76' when Tully (pictured) was put through by Foy, the pacy forward out-ran the defense before rounding the advancing keeper and cooley slotting home from a tight angle. The game lifted a few notches after that as Frankfort threw everything at the Liffeybank team who defended well but were now creating most of the chances themselves. Tully got her and Liffeybank's second goal well into injury time on 96' when she fired home from outside the box with a low drive that found the bottom of the net much to the joy of the large travelling support.

So a night of firsts for the Liffeybank Women, first goals scored, first clean sheet and first win in what is a great start to football for this group of players.
