Under 8 Boys; Liffeybank v Clonee
Great excitement up in St.Catherine's Park on Saturday morning as our U8's took on local rivals Clonee United. All the games were close and both sets of players enjoyed their games.
Under 10 E Boys; Liffeybank 2 (Dara, Dante), Trinity Donaghmede 0.
Dave Corscadden and John O'Neill's young team on Sunday just pipped a very good Trinity D. side in a very close game. Dara opened the scoring for the home side in the first half and Dante completed the win with a well taken shot late in the 2nd. half.
Under 11 E Boys; Liffeybank 3 (Josh O'R, Dylan, OG), Maynooth Town White 1.
Dave Another local derby up in the Park on Saturday, this time it was the turn of the U11's who beat Maynooth in a close affair. Both sides battled well but it was the home side that took their chances to stay unbeaten. The club and his team mates would like to wise a speedy recovery to their star striker Josh K who broke his arm during the week.
Under 14 A Girls; Clonee United 2, Liffeybank 5 (Faye Kelly x3, OG x2).
After an eventful 5-5 draw earlier in the season, Liffeybank visited Clonee United, hopeful of inflicting a first defeat of the season on their hosts. After dominating the early stages, Liffeybank opened the scoring on 22 minutes through Faye Kelly. Aisling O' Brien Killeen, in goal for Liffeybank made a couple of brave interventions to stop through balls, before Faye then grabbed a second just before half time.
Clonee rallied at the start of the second half and came close to reducing the deficit before consecutive well worked corners from Skye Barrett and Lauren Coburn led to a deflected goal at the near post with pressure being applied by Braylin Binujith to give Liffeybank a 3 goal lead.
Clonee again came close to getting a goal back from a free kick before registering with 6 minutes left to set up a tense finish. Liffeybank hit back again with a well worked move between Aoibhinn Hoban and Skye Barrett with Faye Kelly grabbing her hat trick.
There was still time for a 5th from Liffeybank from a corner to make it 5-1, before Clonee netted a consolation at the death.
Under 14 C Girls; Liffeybank 5 (Zoey O'Brien x2, Molly O'Connor, Kate Corscadden, Aoibhinn Hoban), Kilcock Celtic 1.
The sun came out for an afternoon friendly for Kilcock in their first ever 11 a side match versus a Liffeybank representative 11. Kilcock took the lead with a well worked goal after 15 minutes, only for a Zoey O' Brien double to give Liffeybank a half time lead. Zoey showed great pace and footwork to take her chances with the final passes provided by captain Hannah Fleming, and Abby Hudson.
Debutantes Lauryn Rochford and Grace Reynolds didn't look out of place at all, while Caoimhe O' Reilly and Paula Linan gave excellent performances also.
Late goals from Molly O' Connor, Kate Corscadden and Aoibhinn Hoban put the game to bed but overall it was a very much appreciated run out for both teams and an exercise that we hope to repeat in the near future with our friends from Kilcock
Under 11 Girls Cup; St.Itea's 0,Liffeybank 6, (Tessa x4, Bianca x2).
The girls traveled out to a sunny but cold Portran on Sunday morning in the Quarter Final of the Cup against a side we have had many very close encounters over the year. Liffeybank played with a strong wind and were 4 up at half time, the pick of the goals was a volley by Bianca after a wonderful corner. Anytime St.Itea's did go forward the back line which included Sabha, Zoe and Aideen were well up to the task. Sadbhd, Holly and Amber took turns up front and all three caused problems for the home team. The visitors did't have it all their own way as Itea's have some very good players who tried their best to break down our defence, Caoimhe in goals dealt with anything that came her way.
Under 11 C Girls; Liffeybank 0, Maynooth Town 5.
Liffeybank U’11s C played against neighbours Maynooth. The girls started strong and played some great passing football. In goals, Freya was sharp and quick off her line. Fiadh and Ella formed a great partnership in defence. Sophie and Caoilain worked hard in midfield with Abbie and Olivia helping out too. Maynooth were leading one nil at halftime.
In the second half, Maynooth scored a few goals in quick succession but Liffeybank never gave up. Alannah nearly scored the goal of the match creating a chance out of nothing by chasing down a lost cause. While Freya made some super saves throughout, player of the match was Fiadh.
LSL Women Senior Team; Liffeybank 2 (Roisin Nolan x2 1 pen), Dunshaughlin YC 4.
Liffeybank Women's team hosted Dunshaughlin YC in St. Catherine's Park on Sunday afternoon for their first preseason game of 2023. With a host of new recruits in the squad this marked a new era for the women's side. The visitors started well going up 1-0 after 3 mins. Liffeybank then grew into the game dominating the rest of the half and got a deserved equaliser before the break. Dunshaughlin again started brightly and secured their second goal early in the 2nd half. With the game open both sides created chances with the visitors being more clinical. The game finished 4-2 to Dunshaughlin with both Liffeybank goals from Roisin Nolan.
LSL Sunday Premier 1; Liffeybank 1 (Daz Kenny), Drogheda Boys 2
A tough defeat for the lads who had a player sent off and a goal disallowed before just falling short at the end. The visitors were a good footballing side and played on the front foot through-out the game. Liffeybank's growing confidence meant they were always in with a chance but apart from a good strike from Daz Kenny their was little to show for all their effort.
