MGL U11C : Loughshinny United 4 - 1 Liffeybank
We traveled to Loughshinny on a crisp spring morning. The girls started brightly and created some good chances, Harper scored the opening goal with a smashing finish. In defence Fiadh was superb and Freya made some stunning saves. Alice made her debut and had a cracking game in midfield. Loughshinney equalised and then took the lead. They scored two more late goals but the girls can be very proud of their performance, especially as two younger sisters (Naomi & Leah) showed up to bolster the squad.
MGL U11B: Liffeybank 0 - 0 Malahide United
This was as exciting nil all draw as you will see this year. Liffeybank started the stronger and had plenty of possession. Amber and Sadbhd were causing loads of trouble up front but two fine saves from the Malahide keeper kept the scoreline blank. Malahide had several counter attacks and only for some good defending by Sabha, Aideen and Ella the visitors might have broken the deadlock. Tessa and Bianca were linking up well but there was always a toe or a last ditch tackle that saved the visitors. Caoimhe is improving with every game and she pulled off some good stops when called into action. Holly nearly won it right at the end but she shot wide under pressure.
Women's Senior Friendly: Kilcock Celtic 1 - 0 Liffeybank
Liffeybank senior women's side made the short trip west on the N4 to Kilcock Celtic for the second of their preseason games. Starting brightly the team created a number of good chances but couldn't quite capitalise. Strong performances all over the pitch with a number of fledgling players on display. Kilcock grew slowly into the game but neither team could convert the opportunities for both teams. Following a quick break from a Liffeybank corner Kilcock scored in the 66th minute. The Bank pressed hard for an equaliser but unfortunately to no avail with the game finishing 1-0 to the hosts.
MGL U14A : Lucan 2 - 3 Liffeybank (Faye Kelly x2, Skye Barrett).
A hard fought game on a chilly morning in Airlie Heights, Faye Kelly grabbed the lead goal for Liffeybank after 3 minutes, running onto a through ball from Molly O’ Connor, with Lucan forcing home an equaliser after 20 minutes. Skye Barrett regained the lead with a fine long range finish just before half time. After the break Liffeybank passed up a number of presentable opportunities in the first few minutes of the half, only for Lucan to punish the misses with a fine long range goal to level the game. Both sides pushed for a winner, but it was Faye Kelly who latched on to a long ball from keeper Aisling O’ Brien Killeen to loop the winner over the stranded keeper. Lucan withstood a succession of corners at the end with Hannah Fleming having a goal bound shot saved by a last ditch block, before almost grabbing an equaliser from a corner of their own at the death. Overall it was a solid performance from all 18 players with a breakthrough display from player of the match Zion Osawe at full back.
NDSL U8 : Glebe North - Liffeybank
Liffeybank traveled out to North County Dublin early on Saturday morning for a very competitive Under 8 game. With the bare ten players the lads were very tired after their two twin games but had happy faces all the same. Daz and Brian put the Under 8's through their paces every Tuesday night and all the work is definitely paying off with some good performances.
NDSL U10E Ashbourne United 4 - 2 Liffeybank (AJ, Paul).
A game that got away from the Liffeybank lads. The home side raced into an early two goal lead before AJ pulled one back. The lads then took control and got their just rewards when Paul equalised. It was end to end stuff then but it was the home side that went three two up with a free just outside the box. Liffeybank took over control again and had plenty of chances to equalise again but some stout defending kept them out and right on the death Ashbourne broke away to seal the game with their forth goal. Improvement for the team every week and games like this will only help in the future.
NDSL U11E Skerries Town 0 - 2 Liffeybank (Ryan x2)
Liffeybank got off to a good start with a goal from Ryan within one minute. The game didn't really get going after the whirlwind start and play from both sides was disjointed. Paul and Ste's half time team talk seemed to do the trick as there was a marked improvement in the second half. Ryan got his second of the game midway through the 2nd. period to give the side four wins out of four and keep them at the league summit.
NDSL U11F Stamullen 6 - 1 Liffeybank
Although the result wasn't what the lads were looking for here, Saturday marked the occasion of the first game for the newly formed Liffeybank side under the guidance of Brendan McGuinn. There were four players making their Liffeybank debuts today and it was one of these Alex, who got the teams first ever goal. Two one down at the break it was the more experienced home side that were more clinical with their chances in the second half. Oisin was great in the Liffeybank goal while Alex and Benji had numerous counter attacking forays into the Stamullen box. Hugh and the two Cormac's never stopped running throughout the game.
LSL Div 3A Saturday Liffeybank 0 - 2 Trinity Donaghmede
Two early goals and some great defending from the visitors to get the three points. Best on the day Steven Byrne.
LSL Premier 1 Sunday Liffeybank 0 - 1 Peamount United
The lads matched league leaders for most of the game but one mistake cost us. A Peamount goal line clearance at the death gave them all the three points.
